The Third Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium was a great success with posters from many of our graduate programs. This year’s winner of the Faculty Mentorship Award was Rhonda Hughes of the Mathematics Department. And, the winner of the Presenters’ Raffle was Matthew Fury, also of the Mathematics Department. Third Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium

In anticipation of Graduate Student Appreciation Week the GSA will be holding the Third Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium all day Monday, March 30th in the Campus Center. The symposium will consist of a poster exhibition open to the Bryn Mawr community followed by a reception at 4:30pm during which we will announce this year’s recipient of the Graduate Faculty Mentorship award. Most of the presenters will be available to answer questions 2:30-4:30pm. Come support your fellow graduate students and learn about their research.

Annual Kickball

Please save the date for Saturday, May 9, 2009 for our annual kickball game and BBQ. The festivities will kick off around 3pm at Cambrian Row (the row of houses overlooking the fields near the gym) and all significant others are invited. This year we have challenged the school of social work to a kickball match, so please come out and support your kickball team!

New Blackboard Site

The GSA is happy to announce the creation of a GSAS Student Association blackboard site as a means of communication within the GSAS community. All GSAS students and faculty have been added to the site and can access it through their main blackboard account under My Organizations.

Thus far, we have created a Discussion Board containing forums for topics such as housing and job information, health insurance, and activities at Bryn Mawr. There are also links to Important Documents and Upcoming Events on the main navigation bar. The blackboard site can be used by students and faculty to send emails to the entire GSAS community announcing events and other relevant information. Please contact the computing services help desk if you have difficulty accessing our blackboard site.

The GSA would like to encourage undergraduate students to utilize the Graduate Student Mentorship Program. The purpose of the Mentorship Program is to provide a venue in which undergraduate students can receive advice and guidance about academic and career decision-making. Second Annual Graduate Student Symposium

The second annual Graduate Student Research Symposium for all GSAS students will be held in Thomas Great Hall on Monday, March 31st and Tuesday, April 1st. Graduate students across all departments will display posters detailing their research during the symposium. The winner of the second annual Graduate Faculty Mentorship Award will be announced at the reception in TGH at 4:30 pm on April 1st. We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to come by and see the research that graduate students have been doing!
